Sometimes residents simply choose to spend a while in a comfortable chair in the Skylines Community Room—the hub of our home—and chat and socialize instead of staying by themselves in their room.

Everyone has special talents and their own preferences and our Activities staff members encourage residents to find activities and events that most appeal to them. They are practiced in tailoring activities to match each resident’s abilities and desire to participate. However, the final decision about how active each resident chooses to be is always theirs.

Some highlights of the social life at Apostolic Christian Skylines:

 Gardening at Skylines

Gardening at Apostolic Christian Skylines

Gardening has been a valuable part of daily life for many individuals prior to moving to Skylines. We believe it is important to provide various opportunities for our residents to continue this activity if they desire and according to their abilities. Residents enjoy working in our large garden plot. Some residents work in our raised flower bed that is accessible from a chair or a wheelchair (no bending over). Other residents simply like to relax and enjoy the many flower gardens and sitting areas maintained by our staff and volunteers. Gardening experts come and make interesting presentations about gardening and flowers.

The Farmer’s Market

A really big hit at Skylines is our Farmer’s Market. Local growers voluntarily bring us wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables for our residents to enjoy. During the growing season a produce cart sits on our front patio full of the fresh and healthy produce. Residents stream outside to see the wide variety and even some unusual items. Everyone is delighted to make their own selection, all free of charge..

Special Events

Our residents love special events. In addition to our regular activities and routines, we frequently get special groups to come to Skylines to entertain or inform our residents.

The Golden Gems

Fun Group Activities at Apostolic Christian Skylines

A very active group at Skylines is our Golden Gems! This is a group that enjoys going places. It may be lunch together at a local restaurant, a scenic drive, a day trip to Tanner’s Orchard, and many other interesting adventures.

“My family and I are very thankful that our mother is being cared for in a friendly, pleasant atmosphere at Apostolic Christian Skylines. ‘Caring Together’ is more than just a slogan at the Home. The staff is not only professionally skilled, but they give the residents tender loving care.”
